NEW New Residence Hall Coming Soon
UAHuntsville began construction on a new four hundred bed residence hall scheduled to open in the Fall of 2010. The new residence hall is being built just south of the new intermodal facility that opened last fall housing a four story parking garage and University police headquarters. The new residence hall will feature a covered bike storage area, full size kitchens on each floor, classroom space, multi-purpose/gaming space and a new housing office. This new residence hall will not be the only new construction on the UAHuntsville campus during the upcoming months. A new dining facility is being built with the new residence hall. The dining facility will feature two restaurant dining areas, a convenience store and sandwich shop along with ample seating areas to accommodate upper class students in the new residence hall and nearby Southeast Campus and Fraternity and Sorority Housing. Due to the natural elevation between the intermodal facility and the new residence hall, the University is using this space to create a natural amphitheater and courtyard that will allow students living in the new facility and the cafeteria to enjoy an outdoor area for programming and campus activities. Finally, UAHuntsville plans to install a “greenway” through the center of campus that will run adjacent to the new residence hall and cafeteria that will open up to the new University west entrance and Shelby Center. For more information (floor plans, layouts, budgets, etc) about the new residence hall construction and photos, please click here: http://facilities.uah.edu/architect/reshall.htm
